Researchers in this field explore the convergence of molecular and cellular biology with engineering and mathematical sciences, employing quantitative methods to decipher how signaling molecules engage with cells. Launched in 2010, The University of New Mexico's Biomedical Engineering initiative rapidly developed a vibrant, multifaceted research agenda. This program thrives on cross-disciplinary collaboration, drawing faculty participation from throughout the School of Engineering, UNM's School of Medicine, the College of Arts & Sciences, as well as partner institutions like New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and New Mexico State University. Furthermore, our academic community maintains robust partnerships with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, and the Air Force Research Laboratory.
