The International Development and Sustainability (IDS) discipline examines how economic progress and quality of life enhancements can be achieved through responsible management of physical, human, social, and ecological assets within developing and emerging nations.
Our scholars and students investigate diverse challenges prevalent in developing regions, exploring topics such as how migration patterns influence home country development, pollution's impact on various welfare metrics, the socioeconomic consequences of environmental crises, and intergenerational transmission of living standards.
These IDS investigations directly inform our teaching methods, integrating real-world case studies and hands-on data work, while also creating practical research experiences through experimental studies and community-based projects that employ technological solutions for data collection and public education initiatives.
