To obtain a Communication degree, students need to fulfill 36 credit hours in departmental coursework, covering courses 101, 300, 301, 332 or 333, and 400. At least 21 of these 36 credits must be from 300-level or higher courses. Admission to the major requires completing course 101 with a minimum grade of C. Course 101 serves as a prerequisite for 300, 301, and 332/333, while 300 and 301 must be finished before enrolling in 400.
Additionally, Communication majors must complete 9 credits in one specialization area: intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, organizational communication, or public communication. The initial course in each sequence (marked in bold) is mandatory, with the remaining 6 credits chosen from other courses in the track. Concentration courses may be taken in any sequence.
