To obtain a Communication degree, students need to fulfill 36 credit hours within the department, covering courses 101, 300, 301, either 332 or 333, and 400. At least 21 of these credits must be from 300-level or higher classes. Admission to the major requires passing 101 with a minimum grade of C. Course 101 serves as a prerequisite for 300, 301, and either 332 or 333, while 300 and 301 must be finished before enrolling in 400.

Additionally, Communication majors must complete 9 credits in one specialization area: intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, organizational communication, or public communication. The initial course in each sequence (highlighted in bold) is mandatory, with the remaining 6 credits chosen from other track offerings. Concentration courses may be taken in any sequence.
