Community psychology centers on addressing human challenges across diverse environments by advancing theory, research, and practical applications to improve the lives of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and entire communities. It champions social equity by giving voice and power to underserved populations while fostering health and wellness through collaborative community initiatives and preventive measures. For five decades, the University of New Haven's Community Psychology Master's Program has effectively equipped graduates for careers in mental health and human service fields.
Our program delivers a unique hands-on psychology education. Students can choose from four specialized tracks—community mental health, community research and assessment, program design, and forensic psychology—allowing them to customize their studies to align with personal aspirations and career objectives.
You'll develop skills to implement various psychological and social science frameworks to analyze and address the multifaceted factors shaping individual and collective behavior and welfare. The program's flexible structure enables students to pursue their degree while gaining real-world experience, maintaining employment, and managing financial responsibilities. Full-time candidates can graduate within two years, with evening course offerings designed for working professionals.
