Pursuing an English degree at the University of New Haven allows you to immerse yourself in modern fiction and poetry while mastering business writing and public speaking. You'll cultivate outstanding writing proficiency, sharpen analytical abilities, and develop powerful communication skills through both written and oral expression. The English major requires thirty credits beyond introductory composition courses. Bachelor of Arts candidates must fulfill the English Core requirements along with one specialization track (either Literature or Writing), plus complete 40 credits from the University Core Curriculum with these specifications:
Selecting either Literature, Writing, or a combination of both concentrations
Acquiring comprehensive knowledge and professional preparation in the discipline
Exploring diverse subjects including American humor, creative writing, cinema studies, African-American literary works, Victorian-era novels, and mainstream American culture
Qualifying for the prestigious Honors program to join an elite academic community
