The Master of Science in pure mathematics enables students to deepen and consolidate their knowledge of mathematical disciplines. Pursuing this graduate degree lets learners concentrate solely on mathematics, serving as either a gateway to industry careers or preparation for doctoral studies. Program graduates often teach at community colleges, enter industrial fields, or progress to Ph.D. programs. The Mathematics and Statistics program has dual objectives: equipping students for diverse, fulfilling careers in business, industry, government, and education, while offering comprehensive immersion in mathematical sciences.
Applicants for the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees must have completed significant undergraduate coursework in mathematics, preferably in algebra, analysis, and topology.
