Biotechnology harnesses biological and biochemical sciences, especially genetics, to develop innovative and improved biomedical, industrial, agricultural, and environmental solutions. Contemporary biotechnology (encompassing molecular, cellular, and tissue engineering) has enabled us to minimize environmental impact, adopt cleaner energy sources, enhance production efficiency, and produce over 250 medical treatments for serious and uncommon illnesses. This dynamic field is thriving in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and globally, with expanding opportunities in tissue biology, genomics, microbiology, regulatory affairs, pharmaceutical research, and beyond.

Qualification Requirements

The MS Biotech: IBMS program welcomes students from varied scientific and other backgrounds who have the required basic skills to succeed in the degree program. Normally, this background includes completion of a Bachelor’s degree (GPA > 3.0) with an introductory biology two-course sequence with lab, a genetics course (lab not required), and at least one semester of organic chemistry. Students with non-biomedical Bachelor’s degrees with these skills are encouraged to apply for admission.

Minimum score requirements are as follows: TOEFL (Computer-based): 213; TOEFL (Internet-based): 80; IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5; TOEFL ITP (Institution Administered): On case-by-case basis; TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication): On case-by-case basis; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 59.
