Neuroscience and behavior is an interdisciplinary domain exploring how the nervous system interacts with behavior across species. While scientific knowledge about neural mechanisms and behavioral outcomes grows exponentially, mysteries remain regarding brain function, sensory processing, and their roles in human development, cognition, memory formation, stress responses, and attentional processes. Studying animal behavior—from foraging patterns and mating strategies to communication methods, parental behaviors, predator evasion, migration, and environmental adaptation—holds equal significance in our rapidly evolving world.
The Neuroscience and Behavior (NSB) bachelor's program offers students an ideal platform to merge their passions for neurobiology and behavioral studies. NSB undergraduates collaborate directly with psychology and biology professors in practical laboratory settings, mastering advanced research methodologies. The department boasts nine specialized on-campus facilities, such as the Integrative Animal Behavior Lab and Confocal Imaging Center, plus field research stations including Jackson Estuarine Laboratory and Shoals Marine Laboratory. With its innovative coursework, distinguished faculty, and immersive research components, the program equips graduates for advanced academic pursuits and professional careers.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
