From acts of political violence and terrorist threats to environmental catastrophes and global warming, the modern homeland security landscape (HLS) is multifaceted, ever-evolving, and interconnected with nearly every aspect of contemporary life. Current HLS concerns span diverse areas including local community safety, information protection, digital security, environmental shifts, displacement due to crises, epidemic readiness, emergency response capabilities, business security measures, and intelligence operations - among numerous others.
Participants in UNH's homeland security curriculum develop analytical capabilities, judgment skills, technological proficiency, and strategic planning expertise to foster stronger institutions, safer communities, and enhanced national protection. This expansive, multidisciplinary domain demands practitioners with sharp reasoning abilities, solution-oriented approaches, analytical prowess, and effective communication techniques. UNH's HLS program equips learners to recognize and tackle issues of both domestic and global importance while preparing them for fulfilling professional paths across government and industry sectors.
