The four-year education programs are designed for students seeking teaching certification within four years in fields like early childhood education, elementary education, health and physical education, mathematics, music, theater, or dance. Those focusing on elementary education will earn a B.A. in Educational Studies: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion. For other specializations, students will complete a bachelor's degree (B.S., B.A., or B.M.) in their chosen discipline while also covering topics like human development, modern educational approaches, and classroom management techniques. Fulfilling the student-teaching component will prepare graduates for licensure in their selected field.
The Education Department prioritizes community involvement, offering numerous opportunities through partnerships with local schools and organizations, both regionally and globally. On-campus resources like the Community Literacy Center provide valuable programs, while various outreach initiatives support literacy development, ESOL education, and special needs services in neighboring communities. For those wishing to extend their education, a five-year combined licensure and graduate degree option is also offered.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
