Community and environmental planning focuses on enhancing neighborhoods to improve quality of life. Those studying this field examine areas like economic growth, transit systems, low-cost housing, parks, eco-friendly practices, and regional farming. They acquire expertise to oversee projects, evaluate potential impacts, conserve ecosystems, and propose improvements to programs, policies, and regulations.
This program goes beyond traditional lectures. With hands-on coursework involving community projects, students build expertise in urban development fundamentals and connected disciplines like ecology, finance, and government studies, putting theory into practice through mandatory internships. Participants may also join the Semester in the City initiative in Boston - an intensive 30-hour weekly placement with top social impact groups aimed at developing future civic-minded leaders.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
English Language Score:
Minimum TOEFL score is 80 (internet version), 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version); recommended minimum IELTS score is 6.5; recommend Duolingo score is 105 or higher.
