Zoology is a branch of biology focused on animal life. Students explore animal evolution, examining physical structures, biological processes, and behavioral patterns across species - from microscopic single-celled organisms to land and sea-dwelling creatures. The Bachelor of Arts in Zoology offers adaptable coursework, enabling students to combine studies with other disciplines for careers in education, communications, or related fields. At UNH, zoology education benefits from proximity to diverse ecosystems including coastal, freshwater, and alpine environments. The curriculum prioritizes experiential education, with undergraduates actively participating in scientific investigations. Faculty specialists cover areas like aquatic biology, animal husbandry, organismal functions, neural science, and animal conduct, inviting students to collaborate in their research spaces. Additional research opportunities exist at specialized centers such as the Anadromous Fish Studies Facility, Marine Cultivation Hub, Ocean Technology Development Lab, Coastal Ecosystem Research Station, Marine Science Complex, and Island Marine Biology Field Station.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
