For those passionate about German language, literature, or cultural studies, aiming for careers where foreign language skills and cultural knowledge are valuable, or contemplating teaching German at the high school level, the German degree program offers an ideal path. As Europe's most commonly spoken language and with Germany's influential position in the world economy, this program opens doors to diverse career opportunities both domestically and globally.
Students develop strong German language proficiency while exploring the political, social, and cultural landscapes of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Study abroad options include our summer program in Berlin or exchanges with prestigious universities in cities like Berlin, Freiburg, Heidelberg, and Vienna. Credit-bearing internships with German companies or organizations are available. On campus, students can participate in the German conversation group (Stammtisch) and utilize a comprehensive collection of German-language films.
