Within this B.A. economics specialization, you'll gain both practical knowledge and critical thinking abilities to comprehend the financial system's societal function, volatility and uncertainty in investment markets (covering bonds, equities, and foreign exchange), and risk management techniques using financial instruments like futures, options, and swaps. The curriculum also examines monetary policy implementation and effects, investigating strategies like quantitative easing, systemic risk mitigation through macroprudential measures, and crucial debates about government involvement in financial systems.
This track prepares students for financial sector careers spanning retail and corporate banking, securities trading, investment analysis, wealth management, and financial consulting, as well as public sector roles at institutions like the SEC, Treasury Department, and other key government agencies.
