Communication examines how meaning is generated, exchanged, and influenced. It happens through direct interactions using speech and body language, as well as through various technologies ranging from ancient writing systems to modern digital platforms. This academic program investigates communication's impact on interpersonal connections, cultural exchanges, commercial sectors, and technological developments. By studying rhetoric, media analysis, and sociolinguistics, students discover how different communication methods influence perception and societal dynamics. We aim to develop thoughtful citizens and proficient communication experts equipped for diverse careers spanning corporate environments, advertising, social activism, and public service.
The communication major equips students to thoughtfully navigate the communication challenges, behaviors, and systems they'll face in personal, work, and community settings. Achieving this objective involves moving beyond basic communication concepts to develop advanced frameworks and practical approaches for observing, evaluating, contemplating, and addressing these communication phenomena.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
