This program aims to: Establish a strong grounding in public engagement rhetoric, literature, and theory
Offer a thorough analytical framework for assessing public engagement initiatives
Develop scholar-citizens capable of bridging academic and community work
Introduce students to effective public engagement formats, platforms, settings, collaborations, and methods
Act as a reference for addressing and expressing broader cultural concerns for both the University and surrounding communities.
Students will gain comprehensive understanding across historical periods, literary forms, and critical perspectives in British, American, and World English literatures, or writing studies principles and approaches, or public engagement theories and practices, or linguistic concepts and research methods. They will develop expertise in primary and secondary sources relevant to their chosen specialization within literature, writing, public engagement, or language studies.
