The English master's program with a language focus provides specialized study in English language, featuring coursework in linguistics, English language structure and evolution, and literary works. This curriculum allows students flexibility to tailor their studies according to their professional goals in English language and linguistics. Those choosing the language concentration should collaborate closely with their advisor and committee when developing their academic plan.
Participants will gain comprehensive understanding of either: historical periods, literary forms, and critical perspectives in British, American, and global English literature; writing studies principles and methods; literary and rhetorical public engagement strategies; or linguistic theories and approaches. Additionally, students will develop expertise in the core texts and scholarship of their chosen specialization within literature, writing, public engagement, or language studies.
