The Economics Ph.D. program delivers thorough instruction in both theoretical and applied economics, along with specialized areas selected by each student. Its core objective is to develop students' analytical and quantitative capabilities for conducting original economic research. Graduates with robust research expertise are highly valued across various sectors, including government agencies, private enterprises, and academic settings.
Additionally, the Department provides Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees. The Master of Science curriculum builds essential technical, analytical, and quantitative competencies for doctoral studies or specialized careers. This program delivers fundamental training in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, with opportunities to apply these concepts through research—including an optional six-credit thesis. Students opting out of the thesis can expand their expertise through supplementary coursework. The Master of Arts, while similarly focused on technical and quantitative skills, offers greater flexibility with fewer core requirements and more elective options. Both degrees effectively equip graduates for professional roles in applied economics, finance, banking, law, and other fields demanding strong analytical abilities.
