The wildlife ecology and conservation bachelor's program equips students to analyze wild animal populations and explore methods for safeguarding threatened and endangered species. You'll examine humanity's environmental impacts and discover conservation strategies for vital ecosystems like forests and rangelands. The curriculum begins with core science courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics, then progresses to specialized subjects like wildlife population management, ecological studies, and pollution science. Beyond major requirements, you'll study plant and animal physiology, diverse animal species, and botanical sciences.
Our program emphasizes practical learning through hands-on courses and lab work in various settings, offering opportunities to collaborate with distinguished faculty on both field studies and research projects.
To be admitted to an undergraduate degree program as a regular freshman student, you must be a graduate from an approved or accredited high school. You must have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the academic core courses in order to be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno.
Verification of having met the English requirement through one of the following options: TOEFL score 61+; IELTS (must be academic version) with a score of 6.0+; Duolingo English Exam score 95+; Cambridge score of B2+.
