The Secondary Education program focuses on equipping future educators with the skills to tackle modern classroom demands. Our faculty delivers a comprehensive curriculum designed to help students: build a solid understanding of teaching principles, cultivate a passion for learning, embrace democratic values and diversity, and thoughtfully reflect on their professional development. To achieve these goals, the program provides: A robust liberal arts education with specialization in the student's chosen teaching field, essential secondary education fundamentals, subject-specific instructional techniques, strategies for teaching diverse learners and students with special needs, and hands-on experience in public school settings. The Business Education major within the Secondary Education program culminates in a Bachelor of Science from the College of Education (120 credits). Students can pair this with a degree in their content area, often without additional credit requirements. Program graduates complete a semester-long teaching internship for state certification, qualifying them to teach their specialized subject in Nevada's middle and high schools (grades 7-12).
