The information systems major combines core business and management principles with specialized computer technology skills (such as programming, databases, web development, and networking) to equip students with the expertise needed to succeed in today's competitive job market, launch entrepreneurial ventures, or continue advanced studies in graduate programs.
Program objectives
Upon completion, students will demonstrate the ability to:
Evaluate and specify requirements for complex information systems.
Develop and code substantial information systems, incorporating advanced database functionality and appropriate user interfaces.
Independently acquire new technical skills to keep pace with the fast-changing IS field.
Collaborate effectively in team environments.
Apply industry best practices and modern technological solutions to address organizational information system challenges.
Clearly articulate system objectives, analytical processes, design elements, and programming aspects to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Create and deploy information systems that align with and support organizational strategies and business goals.
