The Bachelor of Science in Computational Linguistics is a cross-disciplinary program combining a language foundation in foreign languages (French or Spanish) with studies in French/Spanish linguistics, linguistic theory, programming, math and statistics, and cognitive psychology. This computational linguistics curriculum covers multiple academic areas, including global languages (focusing on French and Spanish), French/Spanish and English phonetics/phonology, grammar, sociolinguistics, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, mathematics, and algorithmic data structures.
Computational linguistics focuses on studying human language through computational methods, including creating computer-processable semantic and grammatical language models, examining statistical and structural language patterns via machine learning techniques, and designing efficient computerized systems for translating and analyzing both speech and text, along with numerous other practical implementations.
