Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice provides students with a social science education that equips them for careers in justice fields, advanced academic pursuits, and legal studies. This Criminal Justice program is ideal for those seeking comprehensive knowledge about the justice system, legal principles, and societal justice. Rather than being a vocational training program, this academically rigorous major emphasizes the legal, ethical, administrative, and behavioral dimensions of justice systems and their components. The degree offers two distinct tracks. Every student completes a foundational curriculum covering the broad spectrum of criminal justice systems. The Criminal Justice Major specifically examines justice system structures and operations, criminology theories, and explores themes of diversity, misconceptions, and ethics. The interdisciplinary Law and Justice Specialization delves into legal frameworks within diverse societies, featuring studies in justice theory, policy analysis, legal research methods, and complementary coursework from fields like philosophy.
Graduates will develop the ability to:
display thorough comprehension of criminal justice misconceptions and show substantive awareness of societal problem-solving challenges in diverse communities.
apply both quantitative and qualitative social science methodologies to effectively interpret research data and evaluate programs.
