This interdisciplinary Master of Science in Cybersecurity program is offered jointly by the Lee Business School and the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering. There's significant demand across local, state, regional, and national levels for professionals skilled in computer systems, network security, and risk management. The Department of Labor and other authorities have highlighted this as one of the most critical workforce needs, with traditional educational institutions struggling to keep pace with the field's rapid growth. Students will gain expertise in both technical and managerial cybersecurity components. Additionally, UNLV holds the distinguished Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) designation for cybersecurity - a prestigious federal recognition granted to only select universities nationwide.
The program leverages the technical strengths of the Computer Science department in the College of Engineering, focusing on data systems, computing, and network technologies. It also draws on the management information systems expertise from the Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology (MET) department in Lee Business School, covering security governance, compliance, and risk assessment.
