The Department of History provides a Master of Arts program with specialized tracks in these fields: United States, Europe, Modern Asia, Latin America (as a minor), Public History (as a minor), or comparative thematic studies (as a minor). This curriculum aims to expand students' comprehension of humanity's collective legacy while refining academic abilities and enabling focused study in particular historical disciplines or eras.
Program Objectives
After finishing the M.A. in History, graduates will be prepared to:
Exhibit comprehensive understanding of both content and scholarly discourse within a primary concentration, whether defined by era, geographic area, or conceptual framework like History and Memory.
Show familiarity with key texts and academic debates in a secondary concentration, whether organized by time period, location, or thematic approach such as History and Memory.
Recognize how historians influence our interpretation of past events and how current circumstances affect historical scholarship.
Develop competence in designing independent research initiatives, locating relevant materials, conducting thorough and impartial analysis within existing academic frameworks, and producing lengthy, logically structured, and well-supported written work.
