The Department highlights two key academic concentrations: Relational Communication and Public Communication. Faculty research and specialization encompasses interpersonal dynamics, team communication, organizational interactions, media analysis, political discourse, public advocacy, research methodologies, health communication, and cross-cultural exchanges. The curriculum caters to students with diverse professional goals. Learners can opt for a practical, career-focused approach where the M.A. serves as their final degree. Those inclined toward academic research may pursue doctoral studies after earning their M.A. Regardless of the chosen path, students at UNLV develop expertise in critical thinking, both quantitative and qualitative research techniques, persuasive argumentation, and effective written and oral communication skills.
