The Department highlights two key disciplines: Relational Communication and Public Communication. Faculty research and specialization centers on interpersonal dynamics, team communication, organizational interactions, media analysis, political discourse, public advocacy, research methodologies, health messaging, and cross-cultural communication. Academic programs cater to students with diverse professional goals. Learners can pursue a practical, career-focused route where the M.A. serves as their final degree. Those inclined toward research may opt to continue into doctoral programs after earning their M.A. Regardless of direction, students at UNLV develop expertise in critical thinking, both quantitative and qualitative research approaches, persuasive reasoning, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
