The Department of Computer Science offers graduate degree programs that enable students to explore various computing disciplines, engage in specialized research, and contribute innovative work to the field.

Our MS and PhD programs focus on advancing research at the cutting edge of computer science and its applications. These programs benefit from faculty members actively involved in research across diverse domains including algorithm design, database management, image processing, task scheduling, geometric computation, cybersecurity, parallel computing, language development, and multimedia systems. Teaching and research are supported by four dedicated on-campus computer labs.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants for admission to the Ph.D. program in computer science must meet the following

A GPA of 3.70 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher in post-baccalaureate course work is required for admission. Students entering with a bachelor's degree must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the courses at the 200-level or above.

Students are expected to have a master's degree in computer science before applying to the Ph.D. program. On rare occasions, an unusually capable student may be admitted to work directly for the Ph.D. degree without having a master's degree.

Transcripts - One transcript from every post-secondary institution the applicant has attended (regardless of whether a degree or credential was earned), showing all coursework, extension and correspondence work, any degrees earned, and the dates that those degrees were awarded. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted as part of the application process. However, if an applicant is admitted, official transcripts will be required by the date specified on the Certificate of Admission. Transfer credits posted on another institution's transcript will not be accepted in lieu of the transcript itself. Only transcripts sent directly from the institution are considered official. Failure to disclose all coursework and/or degrees awarded will result in rescission of admission.
