The Master of Arts in Language Teaching is an interdisciplinary degree that enables students to explore diverse subjects including literature, cultural studies, linguistics in their chosen language, along with second language acquisition theories and instructional methods. Graduate Certificate options are available in Spanish, French, and Teaching Spanish to Heritage/Bilingual Learners.
At the University of Nebraska at Omaha, this unique regional graduate program offers current and aspiring French, Spanish, and ESL/EFL educators a comprehensive, practice-focused curriculum grounded in language teaching pedagogy research.
This program enhances regional language education by preparing students with cutting-edge teaching strategies for world language and TESOL classrooms while fostering professional connections among local language educators.
Note: The MALT degree doesn't provide Nebraska public school teaching certification. It serves as an academic qualification for already-certified teachers, those pursuing certification, educators in non-public school settings (like colleges/universities), and professionals requiring advanced language skills.
