The College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) provides undergraduate programs culminating in Bachelor of Science degrees in aviation, criminology and criminal justice, gerontology, social work, and emergency management. The Division of Continuing Studies oversees the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS) Degree. Beyond its undergraduate offerings, CPACS features courses in urban studies, nonprofit management, and public administration; the Goodrich Scholarship Program, designed for students with significant financial need; and specialized independent study opportunities developed collaboratively with other UNO colleges or government agencies. CPACS is dedicated to delivering an interdisciplinary education that integrates classroom instruction, research, and community engagement, with student participation expected in all these areas.
The curriculum encompasses UNO's general education requirements, departmental mandates, a core set of aviation courses, and specialized instruction in unmanned aircraft systems. Every aviation department degree candidate must fulfill the university's general education requirements, detailed in this catalog and on the University General Education website. Consult an academic advisor for major-specific recommendations. Some Aviation Institute programs necessitate specific foundational courses that may also satisfy General Education criteria.
