The College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) provides undergraduate programs culminating in Bachelor of Science degrees in aviation, criminology and criminal justice, gerontology, social work, and emergency management. The Division of Continuing Studies oversees the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS) Degree. Beyond its undergraduate offerings, CPACS features courses in urban studies, nonprofit management, and public administration; the Goodrich Scholarship Program, designed for students with significant financial need; and specialized independent study opportunities developed collaboratively with other UNO colleges or government agencies. CPACS is dedicated to delivering an interdisciplinary education that integrates classroom instruction, research, and community engagement. Students are encouraged to actively participate in all these components.
The curriculum encompasses the University of Nebraska at Omaha's (UNO) general education requirements, departmental prerequisites, a core set of aviation courses, and specialized classes in air transport administration. Every student pursuing a degree in the aviation department must fulfill the university's general education requirements. More details on these requirements are available in this catalog and on the University General Education website. Consult an academic advisor for guidance on course selections aligned with your major. Some Aviation Institute programs mandate specific foundational courses that may also satisfy General Education criteria. For additional information and specifics, reach out to an academic advisor.
