The Department of Psychology provides both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree options. These programs share identical psychology course requirements, focusing on research training through a four-course sequence that culminates in a specialized laboratory experience across six psychology domains: learning, cognition, development, sensation and perception, behavioral neuroscience, or animal behavior. While the B.A. and B.S. share this core curriculum, they diverge in supplementary course requirements, as detailed later. Both degrees equip students for advanced psychology studies.
Students pursuing psychology can choose to specialize in one of seven concentrations: cognitive science, developmental psychology, forensic psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, mental health, neuroscience and behavior, or school psychology. Each concentration requires at least 12 credit hours. Specializations are optional, and students may select only one concentration area.
