This program is tailored for those pursuing careers in government, national security, intelligence, secondary or higher education teaching, or graduate studies in related fields. The foreign language requirement includes either two years of one language (16 credit hours) or one year (10 credit hours) plus 6 additional credits from study abroad programs in the same language.
The International Studies (INST) Major at UNO is a cross-disciplinary program offering global perspectives for careers in private, nonprofit, and public sectors, as well as graduate education. Career paths include international business, diplomacy, security, law, conflict resolution, humanitarian work, development, nonprofits, education, and public service. INST faculty strongly recommend that students prioritize foreign language acquisition and cultural studies. Many INST students pursue dual majors or language minors alongside their degree.
