The History Department's goal is to cultivate in students a deep understanding of historical occurrences, influential figures, and evolving trends that have shaped our modern world. Beyond offering crucial perspective and contextual awareness, history studies provide practical abilities that prepare graduates for diverse professional paths. Our program teaches majors to locate and evaluate primary sources, interpret complex evidence with sophistication, and articulate discoveries persuasively through speech and writing. Numerous research studies confirm these are precisely the competencies most sought-after by employers across industries. To earn either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in history, students must complete at least 36 history credit hours. Those pursuing a B.A. must additionally achieve intermediate proficiency in a foreign language.
