The sweeping societal transformations of the 1960s led to the creation of one of the longest-standing interdisciplinary programs of its type. A quick look at current news demonstrates why we remain among the nation's most impactful programs: We examine pressing matters related to racial dynamics. Students choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Institute for Ethnic Studies for our degree programs, minors, and graduate concentrations because we provide a comprehensive, interdisciplinary education that takes comparative and holistic approaches to race and ethnicity, including global roots and relationships. Whether concentrating on African and African American studies, U.S. Latina/o and Latin American studies, or Native American Studies, our students collaborate closely with distinguished faculty on engaging research and maintain lasting connections with professors during and after their academic journey. They pursue their intellectual interests within a collaborative, engaging environment that includes seminars, thought-provoking guest lectures, and dynamic campus events.
