The Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design provides graduate programs focusing on apparel and textile design, fashion merchandising, historical costume and textile studies, quilt research, and textile technology. Students can pursue an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in human sciences with a concentration in textiles, merchandising and fashion design. Select courses are offered through online platforms. The department features specialized facilities including fashion design workspaces, digital and traditional textile printing areas, an extensive collection of over 5,000 historical garments and textiles preserved in climate-controlled storage, advanced CAD systems, and textile analysis labs. Students can access internship placements across various sectors including corporate, governmental, and cultural institutions, along with study abroad programs worldwide.
