The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides a comprehensive undergraduate electrical engineering program at both the City (Lincoln) and Scott (Omaha) campuses of the University of Nebraska. The curriculum requirements are almost the same across both locations, allowing students to fulfill all degree prerequisites on either campus. Electrical engineering focuses on generating, transmitting, and using electrical energy, as well as creating, transmitting, and processing information. This encompasses power generation and transmission systems, motors, batteries, control systems, radio frequency (RF) systems, telecommunications, remote sensing, signal processing, digital circuits, instrumentation, and audio, video, and opto-electronics. Career prospects for electrical engineers span a broad range of roles, including design, development, research, sales, and management. These positions are available in industrial companies, public and private utilities, the communications and computer sectors, government and educational bodies, and consulting engineering firms. The major's goal is to equip students with the education needed to become effective electrical engineers and engaged, contributing members of society both nationally and globally.
