This field endorsement qualifies graduates to instruct English writing, language, and literature for grades 7-12. The College provides undergraduate programs resulting in a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences degree across over 40 distinct teaching specializations. Certain University of Nebraska-Lincoln students from other colleges pursue certification simultaneously, earning their primary degree while fulfilling all teacher certification prerequisites through the College of Education and Human Sciences. The program's early classroom placements in both public and private institutions represent a nationally acclaimed feature of the College's teacher training approach. Although internships benefit many students' academic journeys, the College of Education and Human Sciences considers practicum work and student teaching fundamental components of its curriculum that must be satisfactorily finished. Failure to complete these practical components, regardless of cause, may hinder a candidate's admission prospects or continued enrollment in the teacher preparation track. Individuals facing challenges with field requirements may receive guidance to explore alternative career paths better suited to their capabilities. (Refer to the Criminal History Background Check Requirement and Professional and Ethical Behavior sections under OTHER for details regarding conduct affecting field participation.)
