The College provides undergraduate programs that culminate in a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences degree across over 40 distinct teaching specializations. Students enrolled in other University of Nebraska-Lincoln colleges may opt to pursue certification, earning their degree from their primary college while fulfilling all teacher certification prerequisites through the College of Education and Human Sciences. A distinctive feature of the College's teacher education program is its early field placements in both public and private schools, which has gained national recognition. Although internships enrich many students' academic journeys, within the College of Education and Human Sciences, practicum engagements and student teaching form an indispensable component of the curriculum that must be satisfactorily finished. Failure to complete these field components, regardless of the reason, could negatively affect a student's eligibility for College admission or continued participation in a teacher preparation track. Candidates facing challenges in fulfilling field requirements may receive guidance to explore alternative pathways better suited to their success.
