The College provides undergraduate programs that culminate in a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences degree across over 40 distinct teaching specializations. Students from other UNL colleges may pursue certification by earning their degree in their primary college while fulfilling all teacher certification requirements through the College of Education and Human Sciences. A distinctive feature of the college's teacher education program is its early field placements in both public and private schools, which has gained national recognition. Although internships enrich many students' academic journeys, the College of Education and Human Sciences considers practicum experiences and student teaching as fundamental components of its curriculum, requiring successful completion. Failure to complete these field experiences, regardless of the reason, may hinder a candidate's admission to the College or continued enrollment in a teacher preparation program. Students facing challenges in completing field experiences may receive guidance to explore alternative paths with greater potential for success. (Refer to the Criminal History Background Check Requirement and Professional and Ethical Behavior sections under OTHER for details regarding conduct affecting field experience participation.)
