Those aspiring to teach music in K-12 settings should consider obtaining a bachelor's degree in music education. This program provides certification in both vocal and instrumental instruction. Music Ensembles for Degree Credit (MUDC) are specifically designed for music majors and minors to meet their program requirements. Meanwhile, Music Ensembles for Elective Credit Only (MUCO) cater to non-music students and music students enrolled in multiple ensembles per term. Every participant in an ensemble - whether a full-time music major, minor, applied music student, or non-music student - must enroll for at least 1 MUDC or MUEN credit each semester. Students involved in multiple ensembles may register additional groups under MUEN with zero credit. Those not taking applied lessons for credit but participating in an ensemble must enroll for credit; zero-credit options aren't permitted in these cases. Ensemble participation can be repeated for credit, with any extra ensembles beyond degree requirements counting as electives.
