The University of Nebraska's School of Art, Art History & Design offers a distinctive, close-knit setting for photography education. With limited class sizes and personalized instruction, students develop both technical abilities and creative thinking. The curriculum covers traditional film techniques alongside modern digital methods, tracing photography's evolution while preparing students for professional careers. Our Photography program emphasizes thoughtful critique, technical excellence, and artistic experimentation, supported by specialized facilities spanning nearly 4000 square feet. These include digital workstations, traditional darkrooms, a professional lighting studio, and dedicated student gallery space. Students benefit from direct access to the Sheldon Museum of Art's photography archives, opportunities to meet visiting artists, and regular interactions with museum staff, all located next to the Woods Art Building.
