The Master of Science in Geography with a specialization in Community and Environmental Planning is designed for students pursuing careers in urban planning, disaster preparedness, and zoning development. In addition to the 10-credit General MS core curriculum, students must complete 23 additional credits. Candidates must develop and present either a thesis or publishable research articles to an evaluation committee. Alternatively, students may submit and defend a professional report or scholarly articles suitable for publication. The key distinction lies in focus: a thesis contributes to academic knowledge, while a professional paper advances practical applications in the field. Professional papers may include research articles prepared for submission to academic journals.
