This three-year graduate program prepares you to become a skilled artist-practitioner with expertise in blending various theatrical techniques and forms of expression. Recognized as the highest degree in our field, it enables graduates to work professionally or seek tenure-track academic roles. The curriculum equips students with performance abilities, analytical thinking, and hands-on experience to cultivate their unique artistic approach. Through experimentation and reevaluation of traditional methods, students develop greater self-awareness and proficiency across multiple acting styles while enhancing their ability to connect with audiences.
First-year MFA students undergo an immersive cohort experience focused on storytelling techniques and character development through dramatic action. This foundational year includes rigorous study of acting theories and critiques. During the final two years, students collaborate with advanced BFA performers and frequently assist faculty in specialized areas like acting, directing, vocal techniques, movement, theater history, and theory. This combination of intensive study and teaching fosters the development of individual acting philosophies and instructional methods.
