Our M.F.A. program centers around personalized faculty mentorship and frequent peer critiques. Participants delve into concepts and techniques through hands-on studio practice, academic research, written work, presentations, and analytical discussions. The curriculum features:
one-on-one faculty guidance,
theoretical studies and art criticism,
career preparation and academic instruction,
group critique sessions, and
theme-based studio projects.
Graduate students may enroll in no more than six (6) credits of approved 400-level courses.
At the University of Montana, you'll study under internationally exhibited artists whose work appears in prestigious venues worldwide, including the National Portrait Gallery, Harvard University, Smithsonian Institution, New York Public Library, and Fule International Ceramic Art Museums. With small class sizes, you'll receive individualized support while collaborating closely with faculty and fellow art students.
