Over the past decade, the expansion of study abroad initiatives and global education programs has significantly boosted the need for specialists possessing expertise in international education leadership, theoretical frameworks, and policy advocacy worldwide. A master's qualification is increasingly becoming the standard academic requirement for mid-tier roles and even certain entry-level positions within this sector. Given this field's rapid development, scholarly research—especially through graduate-level studies—plays a crucial role in advancing professional knowledge.
The International Education Leadership Master's Program comprises 36 credit hours. Students must complete six foundational courses, three of which are currently available through the Educational Leadership Department: Introduction to Statistics (EDLD 486 or EDLD 519), Educational Research (EDLD 520), and Foundations of Educational Leadership (EDLD 550). Additionally, all candidates will take three newly developed courses: Cross-cultural Competence, Globalization in Education, and Leadership Across Cultures. Together, these courses equip students with the framework to apply leadership principles—as covered in Foundations of Educational Leadership—within internationally focused institutions or organizations.
