The University of Montana-Missoula's Department of Communication Studies emphasizes three key academic domains: human relationships and interpersonal dynamics, institutional and organizational communication, along with public discourse and rhetoric. Our distinguished MA program, recognized nationally, features faculty and curriculum comparable to doctoral-level standards. The curriculum provides core instruction across three fundamental communication disciplines - interpersonal, organizational, and rhetorical studies - complemented by methodological training in qualitative, quantitative, and rhetorical approaches. Qualification Requirements

A full 70% or more of the student's required course work (excluding research and thesis credits) must be at the 500-600 level
To maintain continuous registration, students must be enrolled in at least 3 credits per semester.
To be considered full time, graduate students must enroll in 9 credits per semester.
At least 20 semester credits (including thesis or professional paper credits) must be taken in Communication Studies.
Students must maintain a B average in courses take for graduate credit. No grade below a C will be accepted toward any degree requirement.
Applicants whose native language is not English must submit an acceptable English language proficiency test score. For applicants whose native language is not English, the applicant must have a minimum TOEFL IBT (IBT Home Edition also accepted) 80, IELTS - 6.5
