The Department of Educational Leadership equips professionals to shape tomorrow by training leaders through evidence-based research, inspiring visionary thinking, cultivating forward-looking leadership roles, enabling leaders to create transformative futures, motivating individuals to achieve potential, readying people for unpredictable challenges, developing leaders who build brighter futures, and bridging academic concepts with real-world application. The Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership is an advanced postgraduate program tailored for executive-level leadership roles. This 30-credit program (excluding Comprehensive Exam and Professional Paper requirements) builds upon master's-level education through 500 and 600 level EDLD courses. During their final semester or upon completing coursework, Ed.S. candidates must undertake the Comprehensive Exam (EDLD 594), featuring four take-home essay questions. Each response must not exceed four double-spaced pages using 12-point font. Completed exams are due to the department office seven days before the semester concludes. As outlined in Graduate School policy D3.400, students are allowed one retake opportunity for the Comprehensive Exam.
