The Master of Science in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis is a collaborative program between the Biology Department and the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. Students can also opt for the Professional Science Emphasis track, which incorporates business, financial, and legal dimensions of biotech research.

a. Successful applicants must have completed a baccalaureate in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related
discipline. Undergraduate courses in biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, and organic chemistry are required.
Entrance examinations
a. International students are required to document English proficiency by providing scores from an internationally accepted standardized examination before a decision is made on admission. A score of 213 or better on the computer-based exam or 79 or better on the internet-based exam is required.
b. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test is optional for applicants , scores can be considered as part of an application but are not required from any applicant.
Grade Point Average
a. Minimum of 3.0 on 4.0 scale in biology and chemistry coursework.
Applicants must submit a completed application form and transcripts of all previous coursework to the Graduate School. International applicants whose native language is not English must submit scores reflecting proficiency in English, as detailed by UMSL Global. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for regular admission. All admitted students must have completed undergraduate courses in genetics, cell biology, organic chemistry, and biochemistry as necessary prerequisites for our program
